Purebred Saanen wether. Some are drawn to Saanens by their large size, vitality, herd compatibility and their “eager to please” temperament. The minimum requirements for a mature Saanen is 30” in height, the breed average is 31-32”, with many reported as large as 35”.

Spike is a two year old Saanen wether. He is trained to lead, tie and carry a pack. He packed with us last season in the backcountry of Idaho. Spike is very people oriented, and will follow you virtually anywhere.

Spike already exceeds the breed standards in height by standing 33" at the wither and weighing in at 140 lbs. With two more years until full maturity, this wether is going to be a big boy!
